We are "The Little Church with the Big Heart"!

Our Mission: "As Followers and Servants of Jesus, we invite others to join us as we go into the world to serve, and to celebrate and share the love of God."

Reaching out into the community in love and service has always been a focus of Westminster's ministry.   The shape that outreach has taken has varied over the years.  We have welcomed people into our building, gone out into the community to serve others, partnered with other churches and organizations, had visits from and provided support to overseas missionaries, received and distributed offerings, and more.   We welcome all who are interested to serve together with us, in the name of Christ.   Here are some of the opportunities:

Jackson Personal Care Ministry

In response to a need identified by one of our community partners, Westminster invited others to join us in developing a way to provide non-food, consumable necessities to persons in need in Jackson County.  The Jackson Personal Care Ministry was opened in 2012.  Westminster members and friends staff the pantry one week a month, serve in administrative and organizational capacities, and donate and raise funds.  To learn more about "JPCM," please click HERE.

Love In the Name of Christ

Love in the Name of Christ of the Greater Jackson Area is an affiliate of the national Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC) organization, which exists to mobilize churches to transform communities in the name of Christ.  Love INC in Jackson has a clearinghouse which matches persons in need of assistance with churches able to meet that particular need,  Westminster members volunteer in the clearinghouse and on the Board of Directors, and in meeting particular kinds of need.  We offer the Jackson Personal Care Ministry as a "Gap Ministry" of Love.  We also support the ministry financially as a congregation, and through participation in Love INC's fundraising events. Guardian Program

Volunteers

Recently, Westminster's Outreach Team decided that it would be helpful to focus some of our outreach work, and approached Family Service and Children's Aid about partnering with them.  Their most pressing need was for assistance with the Jackson County Guardian program.  Volunteers from the congregation are trained and partnered with some of their guardian clients as friendly visitors.    We have also made Family Services the beneficiary of some of our other special giving opportunities:

We have given time on our Day of Caring to spruce up their building entrances, shared items needed by clients in some of their programs from our Save a Sole Sock Collection and gifts for children in Foster Care.
